Senior Lead Financial Controller – EMEA

About the role

South Pole is seeking a Senior Lead Financial Controller for the EMEA region to support the Regional Finance Associate Director. You will act as the senior reference point for EMEA Financial Controllers, ensuring accurate, timely, and consistent financial reporting across the region.

Key responsibilities

• Review and control financial numbers submitted by EMEA entities.
• Serve as escalation point for Financial Controllers on accounting, reporting, and reconciliation issues.
• Validate monthly closing submissions for accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
• Analyse balance‑sheet reconciliations, P&L movements, accruals, pre‑payments, intercompany balances and working‑capital items.
• Identify and resolve data‑quality issues, inconsistencies, and process gaps.
• Support standardisation of accounting and reporting practices across EMEA.
• Help improve month‑end close discipline, documentation, ownership and issue follow‑up.
• Prepare clear explanations for material variances and accounting issues.

Required profile

• Strong technical finance experience, preferably in a multinational environment.
• Proven ability to support and coach local finance teams.
• Excellent analytical skills with a focus on data quality and consistency.
• Experience in month‑end close, balance‑sheet reconciliation and financial reporting.
• Ability to work independently and act as a senior escalation point.
