Senior Labour Law Attorney – Litigation & Dispute Resolution

About the role

We are looking for a senior legal professional with deep expertise in South African labour law to join our Industrial Relations team. The successful candidate will independently manage complex litigation and dispute‑resolution matters while delivering commercially focused advice to our clients.

Key responsibilities

• Represent clients at the CCMA, bargaining councils, Labour Court and Labour Appeal Court.
• Handle conciliation, arbitration, con‑arb proceedings and review applications across unfair dismissals, unfair labour practices, constructive dismissals and strike‑related matters.
• Draft pleadings, legal opinions, heads of argument and settlement agreements.
• Lead retrenchment consultations under Sections 189/189A and advise on collective bargaining, lockouts and union recognition.
• Provide employment‑law advisory services, including contract drafting, policy review and compliance audits for POPIA, OHSA, COIDA and UIF.
• Mentor junior advisors, manage a portfolio of high‑level matters and contribute to business development.

Required profile

• LLB degree and admission as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
• 5–8 years post‑admission experience in labour and employment law.
• LLM in Labour Law or related qualification (advantageous).
• Proven experience in CCMA, bargaining council, Labour Court and Labour Appeal Court matters.
• Knowledge of Immigration Act compliance and electronic filing systems (Court Online, Caselines).
• Valid driver’s licence and reliable vehicle.
