Process Technician

About the role

Sappi is looking for an experienced Process Technician to monitor day‑to‑day production processes in a manufacturing environment. The role supports process engineers, foremen and shift superintendents to ensure safe, efficient and compliant operations.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain process standards documentation and update start‑up, shut‑down, and operating manuals.
• Support teams by providing toolbox talk documents and briefing materials.
• Review high‑level designs from Process Engineers and give practical feedback.
• Participate in root‑cause analysis, alarm reviews and recommend corrective actions.
• Monitor adherence to environmental standards and escalate significant issues.
• Assist in simulations, live testing and commissioning activities as a super‑user.

Required profile

• BTech or BEng in Chemical Engineering, or National Diploma in Chemical Engineering or Pulp & Paper Processing.
• 3‑5 years of process experience in a manufacturing setting.
• Ability to work collaboratively with production and engineering teams.

Required skills

• Experience with SAP.
• Familiarity with BrainCube.
• Knowledge of PI data systems.
