Pharmacist Assistant – Pharmacy

About the role

Mediclinic is seeking a Pharmacist Assistant to support its pharmacy operations, providing professional and cost-effective pharmaceutical services to in-patients and the public. The role involves ensuring medicines are readily available, accurately dispensed, and efficiently managed within the pharmacy.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure the availability of medicines and scheduled substances for stores and the public.
• Accurately dispense prescribed medications.
• Maintain efficient stock holding and distribution of medicines and scheduled substances.

Required profile

• Pharmacist Assistant Post Basic Certificate (essential).
• No prior experience required; 1-3 years experience in a private hospital pharmacy is desirable.
• Experience in clinical pharmacy, antimicrobial stewardship, and stock management is advantageous.

Required skills

• Clinical pharmacy and antimicrobial stewardship knowledge.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Familiarity with pharmacy systems such as UNISOLVE and AS400.
• Understanding of current pharmacy legislation (e.g., Medicines and Related Substances Control Act).
• Knowledge of ethical product handling, financial management, and medical aid scheme regulations.
