About the role
The Operational Basic Ambulance Assistant supports Mediclinic’s emergency response service by attending to emergency calls and delivering basic medical care within the defined scope of practice.
Key responsibilities
- Ensure operational readiness for emergency calls.
- Provide basic patient care in accordance with the Basic Ambulance Assistant scope of practice.
- Promote and maintain a positive public image for the ER24 service.
Required profile
- Basic Ambulance Assistant Certificate (essential).
- 6 months to 1 year of road‑based Basic Life Support (BLS) experience; 2 years preferred.
- Knowledge of Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) guidelines and clinical practice standards.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English.
- Ability to complete any required clinical practice training during the probation period if not already compliant.
Required skills
- Basic Life Support (BLS) techniques.
- Completion and documentation of Patient Report Forms.
