Maintenance Technician – Elevator & Escalator Service

About the role

As a Maintenance Technician for KONE in Durban, you will deliver on‑site elevator and escalator maintenance services, ensuring safe and reliable operation for our customers. You will act as the frontline expert, combining technical expertise with proactive communication to keep equipment running smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality maintenance and repair services for elevators and escalators on customer sites.
• Maintain accurate, real‑time reporting of all work performed.
• Communicate proactively with customers, site contacts and end‑users to ensure satisfaction.
• Identify and manage site risks, reporting any hazards promptly.
• Perform unplanned repairs after obtaining customer approval when not covered by contract.
• Manage PAR stock levels, issue replenishment orders and handle inventory transfers.
• Submit timesheets and related documentation in a timely manner.

Required profile

• Red Seal trade test certificate as a lift mechanic, or NQF Level 4/5 certification with a minimum four‑year apprenticeship.
• Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Diploma/Degree with at least 12 months of shadowing a qualified lift mechanic.
• Strong communication abilities and basic IT proficiency.
