Machine Learning Engineer

About the role

The AI Solutions team at Sanlam Life & Savings is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer to operationalise AI and ML models. You will design, build and maintain scalable, resilient ML infrastructure and deployment pipelines, enabling data‑driven decision‑making across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain production‑grade ML/AI pipelines using CI/CD best practices.
• Integrate DevOps practices throughout the ML lifecycle, including version control, containerisation, orchestration and monitoring.
• Deploy and optimise machine learning models in cloud‑native environments such as AWS, Azure or GCP.
• Apply MLOps practices for model versioning, validation, retraining and continuous monitoring.
• Collaborate with data scientists, cloud architects and business stakeholders to deliver robust AI solutions.
• Perform root‑cause analysis and resolve issues across infrastructure and application layers.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to building a high‑performing AI/ML engineering practice.

Required profile

• Strong background in machine learning engineering and DevOps.
• Experience delivering end‑to‑end AI solutions in production environments.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams.
