Lead Architect / Associate – Large‑Scale Projects

About the role

dhk Architects is seeking a highly experienced Lead Architect/Associate to drive large‑scale, iconic urban developments from concept through construction. The role combines visionary design, advanced technical expertise, and strong project leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Develop design concepts and translate them into detailed, deliverable solutions.
• Lead architectural projects from initiation, through design development, construction documentation, and close‑out.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and consultants to ensure successful delivery.
• Prepare and manage high‑quality construction documentation and detailing.
• Manage and mentor design teams, ensuring alignment with dhk’s standards and vision.
• Oversee quality assurance of documentation and on‑site execution.

Required profile

• SACAP‑registered Professional Architect with 10‑15 years post‑qualification experience.
• Proven track record delivering large, complex projects across mixed‑use, commercial, residential, hospitality, civic and education sectors.
• Strong academic background with recognised architectural qualifications.
• Visionary designer with refined spatial and conceptual sensibility.
• Excellent leadership and project management abilities.

Required skills

• Expert proficiency in Revit and BIM Common Data Environment (CDE).
• In‑depth knowledge of construction documentation and detailing.
• Working knowledge of Enscape, Adobe Creative Cloud Suite and Microsoft Office.
• Comprehensive understanding of building systems, regulations and construction methodologies.
• Advanced ability to interpret technical and commercial project feasibility.
