Junior Software Analytics Engineer

About the role

Takealot.com is seeking a Junior Software Analytics Engineer to join its Distribution Centre team in Cape Town. You will help design, develop, and maintain tools that improve operational visibility, reduce risk, and boost productivity across the warehouse environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement Android applications and backend solutions for DC operations.
• Integrate third‑party APIs, optimise performance, and apply security best practices.
• Automate reporting processes using Python, JavaScript or C# and build data pipelines.
• Collaborate with DevOps, Data Engineering, IT Services and other technical teams to translate requirements into technical tasks.
• Maintain documentation, SOPs and technical guides, and provide training to super users.
• Conduct QA testing, troubleshoot issues, and continuously improve software reliability.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (minimum 6 years operational support in a tech environment if no degree).
• At least 2 years of experience writing Python applications.
• At least 2 years of experience building APIs and making API calls.

Required skills

• Python, JavaScript, C# programming.
• Android application development.
• RESTful API design and integration.
• Git version control and CI/CD pipeline implementation.
• Database query optimisation, caching strategies, and authentication/authorization mechanisms.
• Low‑code UI development and third‑party API integration.
