About the role
The Facilities Maintenance Technician supports the daily operation and upkeep of a hospital’s physical plant, ensuring all mechanical, electrical, and environmental systems function safely and efficiently.
Key responsibilities
- Perform daily rounds of the main hospital facility and weekly checks of off‑site locations.
- Monitor and operate Building Automation Systems (BAS) to verify proper performance of HVAC, electrical, steam generation/sterilization, plumbing, and other mechanical systems.
- Initiate repairs, maintenance, and cleaning tasks, generating work orders through the ASH work order management system.
- Ensure compliance with Life Safety, Fire Safety, and Infection Control Risk Assessment requirements, tracking inspections and interim safety measures.
- Complete scheduled preventive maintenance and miscellaneous projects such as painting, drywall, fixture installation, and equipment moves.
- Assist the Facilities Manager with capital budget planning, coordination of contracted services, and 24/7 emergency maintenance scheduling.
Required profile
- Experience maintaining hospital or similar healthcare facilities.
- Familiarity with life safety, fire safety, and infection control regulations.
- Ability to work independently within established procedures and respond to emergency situations.
