Counsellor / Psychologist – Crisis Support (Remote/Freelance)

About the role

Intellect is seeking a qualified Counsellor or Psychologist to provide crisis support through its telehealth platform. This freelance, remote position offers full flexibility, allowing you to set your own hours while delivering high‑quality mental‑health care to clients across South Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver 1‑on‑1 telehealth (and occasional onsite) counselling for clients dealing with depression, anxiety, trauma, eating disorders and related issues.
• Apply evidence‑based therapeutic approaches such as CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing and Solution‑Focused Brief Therapy.
• Collaborate with Intellect’s internal clinical team to refine the platform and improve client programmes.
• Provide Critical Incident Stress Programme (CISP) interventions virtually or onsite as required.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Counseling or Clinical Psychology.
• Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
• Minimum 300 post‑master’s clinical hours, including trauma‑related experience in psychiatric or mental‑health settings.
• Fluency in English and Afrikaans.
• Experience with Employee Assistance Programs (EAP) or adult coaching is preferred.
