Construction Surveyor – Set Out & Measurement Specialist

About the role

The Construction Surveyor will translate design drawings into precise on‑site set‑out and control lines, ensuring construction teams have accurate daily targets. After works are completed, the Surveyor will measure the finished elements for as‑built records and payment verification.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret construction drawings and benchmarks to set out line and level control for daily work.
• Survey and measure excavations, stockpiles, pipework, and roadworks for as‑built documentation and payment purposes.
• Verify survey data accuracy through cross‑checks and calculations.
• Manage the performance of at least one pipe, roadworks, or earthworks team.
• Conduct grid surveys to determine volumes and usable material areas.
• Calibrate and adjust surveying instruments to maintain precision.
• Train and direct assistants and junior staff in survey tasks.

Required profile

• Diploma in Civil Engineering or a related qualification.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in civil construction surveying (roadworks, earthworks, pipelaying, township developments).
• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively.
• Capability to train junior staff.
• Valid driving licence.
