Utilities Operator – Plant Snacks

About the role

The Utilities Operator provides technical support to the Manufacturing division at PepsiCo's Isando plant, ensuring reliable operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of critical utilities equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily logging, inspections, and preventive maintenance tasks such as filter replacements, oil changes, lubrication and housekeeping.
• Diagnose and repair complex utilities equipment including boilers, compressors, dryers, evaporative condensers and chillers.
• Maintain the incoming water supply system and operate boiler water‑treatment processes, keeping TDS levels within specifications.
• Start‑up and shut‑down backup power systems and operate compressed‑air systems as required.
• Document hourly boiler readings and produce weekly/monthly reports on work performed, time spent, spares used and resources employed.
• Reference equipment drawings, engineering standards and GMPs when completing and closing jobs.

Required profile

• Comprehensive technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical and process utilities equipment.
• Strong understanding of occupational safety and health practices and relevant regulations.
• Self‑starter with innovative problem‑solving abilities and analytical skills to resolve plant breakdowns permanently.
