US Tax Manager

About the role

We are looking for an experienced US Tax Manager to join our American accounting firm’s remote team. Based in South Africa, you will work EST hours (8 am‑5 pm) and collaborate closely with US‑based colleagues to deliver tax services for a diverse client base.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review US federal, state and local tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations and trusts.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable US tax regulations and filing deadlines.
• Provide tax planning, research and advisory support to clients.
• Review work of junior tax staff, offering guidance and quality control.
• Identify tax risks and opportunities, and recommend improvements.
• Liaise with clients and internal teams to gather necessary tax information.
• Stay current with changes in US tax law, IRS regulations and compliance requirements.
• Contribute to process improvements within the tax department.

Required profile

• Based in South Africa and able to work EST hours.
• Strong knowledge of US tax principles and IRS requirements.
• Previous experience with a US accounting firm or US tax clients.
• Experience preparing and reviewing US individual and business tax returns.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work with US‑based clients and teams.
• High attention to detail, strong organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
