Unit Manager - Critical Care

About the role

The Unit Manager – Critical Care leads a specialised nursing unit to ensure safe patient care and a positive client experience. The role combines clinical oversight with resource and staff management, aligning unit performance with Mediclinic’s quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure safe patient care by meeting clinical quality standards and company policies.
• Manage and mitigate clinical risks within the unit.
• Lead, coach and manage all staff members in the unit.
• Control operational and capital expenses in line with budget guidelines.
• Contribute actively to a positive client experience throughout the hospital.
• Maintain key stakeholder relationships and support inter‑departmental outcomes.

Required profile

• Professional Nurse qualification plus a Postgraduate Diploma in Health Services Management or an accredited management qualification; alternatively, 5 years of hospital leadership experience with a Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing for specialist units.
• Minimum of 5 years professional nursing experience in a hospital and at least 2 years of leadership experience in a hospital setting.
