Trade Manager

About the role

The Trade Manager will drive commercial growth for Sallaum Lines across African markets, developing and executing trade strategies that align with the company’s objectives. This role focuses on identifying new business opportunities, building sustainable partnerships, and expanding the company’s presence along key trade corridors.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement trade and commercial strategies to increase revenue and market share across Africa.
• Identify, evaluate, and pursue new business opportunities and strategic partnerships in EU‑West Africa‑South Africa, US‑West Africa‑South Africa, and intra‑African routes.
• Conduct market research, monitor competitor activity, freight trends, and trade developments to inform commercial decisions.
• Negotiate commercial agreements and contracts with customers, suppliers, distributors, and partners.
• Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Operations, Finance, and Legal teams to ensure seamless service delivery.
• Prepare and present commercial reports on cargo volumes, revenue performance, pricing activities, and market intelligence.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, International Trade, Supply Chain, Logistics, Marketing or related field (Master’s degree advantageous).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial, trade or business development roles, preferably in logistics, shipping, automotive or transportation.
• Strong understanding of African markets, regional trade structures and distribution networks.
• Proven ability to develop and execute commercial strategies, manage key accounts and negotiate contracts.
• Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.
