Tax Accountant – Cape Town CBD

About the role

Our client, a well‑established accounting firm in Cape Town CBD, is seeking a detail‑driven Tax Accountant to own the tax function for a diverse portfolio of local and international clients. You will be responsible for accurate tax return preparation and client management while working in a supportive, small‑company environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, review and submit tax calculations and returns for individuals and corporations.
• Process financial data, compile tax schedules and manage VAT, PAYE, provisional and payroll tax.
• Communicate with clients on tax matters, deadlines and queries.
• Compile management accounts, annual financial statements and supporting working papers.
• Liaise with SARS on objections, appeals and disputes.
• Stay updated on tax legislation and train junior team members.
• Assist with billing, timesheet management and revenue‑target activities.

Required profile

• Registered tax practitioner or completed SAIPA, SAIT or AGA(SA) articles (highly advantageous).
• 6+ years of tax and accounting experience in an accounting or audit firm.
• 5+ years of hands‑on experience with SARS eFiling and accounting software.
• Strong written and verbal communication in English and Afrikaans.
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively and maintain high attention to detail.
