T1 Technician – Surface and Underground

About the role

Schauenburg Systems is seeking a T1 Technician to provide comprehensive technical services for electronic technology used in health, safety and productivity on surface and underground mining operations in Polokwane. The role involves installation, maintenance and support of electronic equipment to ensure safe and efficient mine operations.

Key responsibilities

• Install, repair, certify and provide technical support for electronic products and systems on the mine.
• Set up and test units to meet specified requirements and perform quality checks in line with company policy.
• Troubleshoot issues, determine root causes and recommend corrective actions or escalate as needed.
• Maintain electronic equipment and software, record maintenance requirements and assist with new projects.
• Operate hand and small power tools safely, maintain housekeeping standards and complete required documentation.
• Liaise with other technical staff and on‑site customers to ensure quality, safety and contractual compliance.
• Provide regular feedback to the Technical Coordinator and Supervisor and support senior technicians.

Required profile

• Minimum N5 qualification in Electrical/Electronics.
• At least 4 years of experience in electronics (hardware and software) and IT (hardware, networks and software).
• Knowledge of the company’s Advantage product line.
• Good computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office.
• Valid driver’s licence and own vehicle.
• Strong organisational, problem‑solving and interpersonal abilities.
