Swim Manager

About the role

The Swim Manager will lead Virgin Active’s swim programme, ensuring high‑quality lessons for members of all ages while driving revenue and brand reputation. This full‑time, onsite role combines programme development, people management and operational oversight.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, deliver and continuously improve group and individual swim lessons for adults and children.
• Develop additional programming such as holiday activities and innovative monthly timetables.
• Promote the swim offering through marketing activities and member engagement.
• Manage revenue, budgeting, reporting and ensure lessons are never cancelled.
• Recruit, train and lead swim instructors, conducting regular 1:1 meetings and performance reviews.
• Monitor attendance, member feedback and NPS, adjusting programmes to maximise retention.
• Maintain pool safety, equipment standards and compliance with health‑and‑safety procedures.

Required profile

• Matric qualification and recognised swim qualification (e.g., Swim SA).
• 1‑2 years experience managing a swim programme or similar department.
• 2‑3 years experience as a swim instructor or coach.
• First Aid Level 1 and AED certification with a clear criminal record.
• Strong numeracy, financial acumen and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
