Software Engineer – Python & Data Development (On‑site)

About the role

We are looking for a Software Engineer who combines strong Python development skills with a passion for data integration and analysis. Based on Thesen Island in Knysna, you will work on‑site building end‑to‑end solutions that turn data into functional applications and internal tools.

Key responsibilities

• Develop Python‑based solutions for data integration, automation and business logic.
• Write and optimise SQL queries to extract, transform and load data from existing systems.
• Build and maintain internal front‑end tools using JavaScript, HTML/CSS and related frameworks.
• Contribute to custom application development alongside outsourced partners.
• Apply analytical thinking to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
• Support and extend the existing Power BI environment, including DAX where needed.

Required profile

• 0–1 years of experience in software development, data engineering or technical analysis.
• Degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, Mathematics or a related technical field.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to understand data flows and business context.
• Motivated, hands‑on and eager to grow technical ownership.

Required skills

• Python development (essential).
• SQL for data extraction and integration.
• Front‑end technologies such as JavaScript, HTML, CSS (or frameworks like React).
• Familiarity with Power BI and DAX (advantageous).
