Sessional External Moderator – Health Science Programs

About the role

The Western Cape College of Nursing is seeking qualified sessional external moderators to oversee assessments for all health science programmes offered across its colleges. Moderators will ensure the quality and consistency of both clinical and theoretical assessments.

Key responsibilities

• Moderate clinical and theoretical assessments.
• Provide feedback on assessment practices.
• Moderate set assessments and marked scripts according to WCCN policy.
• Perform quality assurance on all assessment strategies.
• Collaborate with subject coordinators and provide written feedback to Heads of Departments.

Required profile

• Relevant nursing or midwifery qualification (Higher Certificate, Diploma, Bachelor, Advanced Diploma) and registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Moderator and Assessor.
• Minimum of 5 years working as a Registered Nurse or Midwife (14 years for postgraduate diploma roles) and experience as a nurse educator.
• Post‑basic diploma/degree in Nursing Education and Management; a relevant master’s or doctoral degree is preferred for senior positions.

• Annual stipend of R89 409 (amount varies by NQF level).
