Service Contract Technician – Mechanical Maintenance

About the role

The Service Contract Technician provides technical support for mechanical maintenance of mining equipment, ensuring high reliability, availability and cost‑efficiency. The role is based in an underground mining environment and involves shift work away from home.

Key responsibilities

• Perform electrical, mechanical and maintenance operations on mining equipment.
• Execute preventive maintenance, corrective actions and support planning activities.
• Document outcomes, root causes, time spent and improvement actions.
• Conduct risk assessments, shift reporting and incident reporting.
• Follow standard operating procedures, quality and cleanliness standards (5S).
• Communicate operational status and any deviations.
• Adhere to safety practices and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Grade 12 / N3 Technical Qualification or equivalent.
• Section 13 Trade Certificate (Millwright, Diesel Mechanic or Electrician) with proof of training/apprenticeship.
• Minimum 5 years relevant mining experience, preferably underground.
• Medically fit, valid driver’s licence and own transport.
• Willingness to work shifts and be away from home for the duration of the shift.
