Senior Professional Nurse

About the role

Mediclinic George is recruiting one Senior Professional Nurse for an on-site, permanent position. The nurse supports the Unit Manager in delivering a safe and positive client experience by mitigating clinical risks and coordinating care delivery, while providing direct patient care and mentoring new and student nurses.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure comprehensive and safe patient care by mitigating risks and meeting clinical quality standards
• Manage the client experience
• Ensure optimal supply, retention and utilisation of staffing resources
• Build staff competence through continuous assessment and development
• Assist in managing operational expenses, including stock and capital

Required profile

• Professional Nurse qualification
• Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing if managing a specialist unit (e.g. Perioperative Nursing)
• 3 years of professional nurse experience in a hospital
• 1 year of mentor experience

Required skills

• Nursing record keeping and audit of patient records
• Development and modification of nursing care plans
• Patient assessment and risk identification
• Pharmacology, infection prevention and control, and relevant nursing legislation
• Scientific nursing principles and computer literacy (Microsoft Office)
• For specialised wards: ACLS, ATLS, PALS and basic life support training
