Senior GemStone Developer

We’re looking for a Senior GemStone Developer to join our team and take ownership of the design, development, optimisation and maintenance of complex GemStone/S Smalltalk applications.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and maintain GemStone/S Smalltalk applications.
• Translate business and functional requirements into robust, scalable technical solutions.
• Write clean, efficient, maintainable and well‑documented code.
• Conduct code reviews and provide constructive technical guidance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues.
• Optimise application performance, reliability and scalability.
• Contribute to technical and architectural decisions across platforms.
• Participate in technical design sessions, solution walkthroughs and architecture discussions.
• Ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture, security and development standards.
• Identify opportunities to introduce AI‑driven automation, predictive capabilities and intelligent monitoring.
• Follow coding standards, development methodologies and version‑control practices.
• Identify technical risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Support testing, deployment and release activities.
• Collaborate with Business Analysts, QA/Testers, DevOps, Infrastructure and other technology teams.
• Mentor and support junior and intermediate developers as the GemStone Subject Matter Expert.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Senior Developer with expertise in GemStone/S Smalltalk.
• Strong problem‑solving and systems‑thinking abilities.
• Ability to mentor junior developers and act as a subject‑matter expert.
• Experience contributing to architectural decisions and improving platform performance.
