Senior Expert Engineer – Industrial Services & Cybersecurity

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Expert Engineer to join the Industrial Services & Cybersecurity business unit of TÜV Rheinland. The role focuses on functional safety and operational technology security for industrial plants, renewable energy projects and major infrastructure initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage complex projects, coordinating resources and activities.
• Act as lead auditor, certifier or senior inspector for safety and security assessments.
• Support sales and marketing teams and contribute to the development of new services.
• Continuously expand knowledge of relevant standards and regulations through training and experience exchange.
• Deliver technical training and knowledge transfer to experts, department heads and certification bodies.
• Represent TÜV Rheinland in committees, publications and regional experience‑exchange forums.
• Provide feedback and information flow between business unit and department management.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in functional safety, OT security and industrial automation.
• Proven ability to manage senior‑level projects and lead audit/inspection activities.
• Strong knowledge of international standards and regulations in the relevant domains.
• Excellent communication skills for training, stakeholder engagement and representation.

• Functional safety standards (e.g., IEC 61508, IEC 61511).
• Operational Technology (OT) security concepts.
• Industrial automation systems.
• Project management methodologies.
• Audit and certification processes.
