Security Officer Porter

About the role

The Security Officer Porter ensures the safety and security of Mediclinic personnel, visitors and property while providing reliable transport and escort services for patients, equipment and confidential files across hospital departments.

Key responsibilities

• Control access at all entrances and guide visitors to the correct locations.
• Conduct regular patrols and inspections of hospital premises.
• Assist with emergency evacuations and respond to security incidents.
• Transport and escort patients safely to pre‑determined areas.
• Perform general administrative tasks such as completing log books and distributing mail.

Required profile

• Essential education: Grade 12 or Grade 10 with at least five years of extensive security experience.
• Desired education: Grade 12.
• Essential experience: Proven experience in the security industry.
• Desired experience: Four years of security experience is an added advantage.

Required skills

• Knowledge of cold‑room legislation and security legislation (e.g., PSIRA).
• Understanding of Patient Rights Charter and medico‑legal risk areas such as infection control and patient safety.
• Familiarity with kinetic handling principles.
• Proficiency with two‑way radio communication systems.
• Computer literacy, particularly Microsoft Office.
