Restaurant Manager – High‑Volume Farm‑Style Eatery

About the role

Grass Roof is seeking a hands‑on Restaurant Manager to lead daily operations at its busy farm‑stall style venue in Port Elizabeth. The role combines front‑of‑house leadership with back‑of‑house coordination to ensure smooth, high‑volume breakfast and lunch service in a family‑friendly environment.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all restaurant activities, including staff scheduling, service flow and guest experience.
• Lead waitstaff, kitchen crew, runners and front‑of‑house team, ensuring clear communication.
• Maintain service standards during peak breakfast and lunch periods.
• Handle customer complaints professionally and promptly.
• Train, motivate and develop team members.
• Manage bookings, table turnover and outdoor seating arrangements.
• Monitor hygiene, safety and cleanliness standards.
• Assist with stock control, ordering and waste management.
• Report to owners and senior staff, suggesting improvements to speed and service.

Required profile

• Previous experience managing a restaurant or high‑volume food service outlet.
• Strong leadership and communication abilities.
• Calm under pressure, reliable, punctual and well‑organized.
• Comfortable working weekends, public holidays and busy seasonal periods.
• Own transport preferred.
