Relation Officer – Regional Operations

About the role

The Relation Officer provides effective property and facilities management support within the City of Tshwane’s Region 6 hostel. The role ensures access control, tenant management and day‑to‑day operations run smoothly while maintaining high standards of safety, cleanliness and functionality.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and control entry and exit of residents, visitors and service providers, maintaining visitor registers and access procedures.
• Allocate hostel accommodation units, keep accurate occupancy records and facilitate resident moves.
• Conduct regular inspections and patrols, identify security, safety and operational risks and report them.
• Ensure compliance with municipal by‑laws, hostel policies and house rules, addressing non‑compliance and escalating violations.
• Report maintenance defects, follow up on repairs and coordinate with service providers to ensure timely resolution.
• Serve as a communication link between residents, management and external stakeholders, handling queries, complaints and service requests.
• Supervise general workers and service providers to maintain cleanliness and maintenance standards.

Required profile

• Grade 10 qualification with at least six months’ relevant experience in a human settlements or security environment.
• Physical fitness and health, and willingness to undergo a criminal record check and fingerprinting.
• High ethical standards, strong verbal and written communication, and excellent interpersonal and relationship‑management skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team, pay attention to detail, manage multiple tasks under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Strong administrative and record‑keeping abilities.
