Protocol Driver for High Commission in Pretoria

About the role

The High Commission of the Republic of Rwanda in Pretoria is seeking a professional Protocol Driver to provide secure and punctual transportation for the High Commissioner, mission officials and visiting dignitaries. The role demands the highest standards of discretion, courtesy and adherence to diplomatic protocol.

Key responsibilities

• Operate the protocol vehicle and other mission cars safely, ensuring timely arrival for official engagements, meetings and events.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness, perform regular inspections and coordinate maintenance, fueling and documentation.
• Follow diplomatic dress code and etiquette during transport and at events.
• Implement security and safety procedures, respond calmly to emergencies and report incidents.
• Keep accurate mileage, fuel and maintenance logs while safeguarding confidential schedule information.

Required profile

• Minimum high school diploma.
• At least five years’ experience as a protocol driver in a diplomatic or corporate setting.
• Valid work permit and travel documents.
• Good knowledge of the High Commission’s jurisdiction and key stakeholder addresses.

Required skills

• Valid and clean Category B driver’s licence.
• Proficiency in defensive driving techniques and security protocols.
• Excellent communication in English, French or both.
• Impeccable punctuality, reliability and diplomatic demeanor.
