Professional Nurse - Recovery

About the role

Mediclinic Vergelegen is seeking a Professional Nurse for its Recovery unit. The role focuses on delivering safe, comprehensive and high‑quality nursing care in line with the Scope of Practice.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver quality nursing care in collaboration with a multi‑professional team.
• Identify, prevent and manage risks to ensure patient safety.
• Facilitate a positive patient experience by creating a conducive environment.
• Provide accurate and comprehensive records of all nursing interventions.
• Create a learning environment that builds staff competence.
• Ensure that all utilised stock and equipment are accurately charged.

Required profile

• Degree or Diploma in General Nursing (essential).
• No minimum experience required; a 1‑year post‑graduate qualification experience is desired.
• Additional education such as Midwifery or a postgraduate certificate/diploma in a relevant specialty is advantageous.

• Infection prevention and control.
• Pharmacology.
• Scientific nursing principles and processes.
• Nursing record keeping.
• Patient assessment skills.
• Nursing processes and procedures.
• Computer literacy (Microsoft Office).
• Developing and modifying nursing care plans.
• Knowledge of relevant nursing legislation.
• Basic life support training (ACLS, ATLS, PALS).
