Procedure Registered Nurse (RN)

About the role

The Procedure Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct patient care and support during outpatient surgical procedures. Working in a fast‑paced environment, the RN ensures patient safety, conducts pre‑operative preparation, and assists the surgical team throughout the procedure.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patients, obtain records, and perform pre‑operative education and testing.
• Prepare patients for surgery, including IV insertion, lab draws, vital signs, and medication administration.
• Verify surgical site, consent, and conduct a “Time Out” to prevent wrong‑site errors.
• Assist with minor surgical tasks, maintain aseptic technique, and operate relevant medical equipment.
• Monitor patient status during the procedure and in the post‑anesthesia care unit, reporting any changes to the team.
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the EMR.
• Coordinate discharge planning and review postoperative instructions with patients.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (RN) licence and current registration.
• Ability to work flexible 8‑hour shifts, Monday‑Friday, with variable late hours.
• Strong commitment to patient‑centered, high‑quality care.
• Excellent communication and professional demeanor.
