Priority Species Monitor

About the role

Wildlife ACT is seeking dedicated conservation professionals to monitor priority wildlife species in northern KwaZulu-Natal. The role involves hands‑on field work, data collection and sharing knowledge with volunteers.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct field monitoring of threatened and iconic wildlife species.
• Record observations, enter data promptly and maintain accurate databases.
• Engage and mentor conservation volunteers on the ground.
• Prepare reports and create social‑media content to raise awareness.

Required profile

• South African citizenship.
• Willingness to work outside normal hours.
• Relevant tertiary qualification (e.g., National Diploma in Nature Conservation, BSc Conservation Ecology or equivalent).
• Valid driver’s licence with PrDP and Level 1 First Aid certification.
• Proven experience in a Big Five game reserve; field‑guiding qualification is a plus.
• Strong passion for conservation and a solid work ethic.
