Plant Engineer – GMR 2.1

About the role

The Plant Engineer – GMR 2.1 provides professional engineering and technical leadership for the maintenance, reliability and safe operation of plant, machinery and associated infrastructure. The incumbent is formally appointed as the GMR 2.1 responsible person, ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety legislation while supporting production objectives and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Exercise technical authority over maintenance, operation, inspection and safe use of plant equipment, including stopping operations when unsafe conditions are identified.
• Develop and implement preventative and predictive maintenance strategies, monitor performance, and address recurring equipment failures.
• Manage engineering projects, plant upgrades, modifications and installations, ensuring compliance with legal, safety and quality requirements.
• Maintain statutory records, registers, certificates and engineering documentation, and liaise with authorities and external service providers.
• Promote a strong engineering safety culture, conduct risk assessments, incident investigations and ensure engineering activities follow approved safety procedures.
