Pharmacist Intern – The Glen Store

About the role

Dis‑Chem Pharmacies is seeking a Pharmacy Intern for its The Glen store in Johannesburg. The internship provides hands‑on experience in pharmaceutical care, medication dispensing, and customer service under direct supervision of a qualified pharmacist.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation, compounding, labeling and dispensing of medicines, including scheduled substances, following standard operating procedures.
• Support stock management, ordering, re‑packaging and control of Schedule 1‑6 medicines, and conduct scheduled stock takes.
• Interpret prescriptions accurately, verify patient details, and provide clear medication usage instructions.
• Process medical aid claims, explain costs to patients, and handle script rejections or authorisations for chronic, HIV/AIDS and oncology medication.
• Maintain customer profiles, report low‑stock levels, and ensure compliance with Dis‑Chem policies, health‑and‑safety rules and uniform standards.

Required profile

• Grade 12 / Matric qualification.
• BPharm – 4‑year degree (or currently studying).
• Computer literate with proficiency in MS Office.
• Advantageous: experience with Unisolve and E‑Scripting.

Required skills

• MS Office proficiency.
• Knowledge of Unisolve pharmacy software.
• Familiarity with E‑Scripting for prescription processing.
