About the role
Mediclinic is seeking a Pharmacist Assistant to support its hospital pharmacy operations. The role involves providing a professional, cost‑effective pharmaceutical service to in‑patients and the public while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
Key responsibilities
- Ensure the availability of medicines and scheduled substances to stores and the public.
- Accurately dispense prescribed medications.
- Maintain efficient stock holding and distribution of medicines and scheduled substances.
- Support clinical pharmacy activities, including antimicrobial stewardship.
Required profile
- Essential education: Pharmacist Assistant Post Basic Certificate.
- No minimum experience required; 1‑3 years private hospital pharmacy experience is desirable.
Required skills
- Clinical pharmacy and antimicrobial stewardship.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of current pharmacy legislation (e.g., Medicines and Related Substances Control Act).
- Familiarity with pharmacy systems such as UNISOLVE and AS400.
- Understanding of financial management, medical aid scheme benefits, and formularies.
