Network Engineer III – IT/Network Support

About the role

Shoprite Group is recruiting a Network Engineer III within its IT / Network Support function based in Brackenfell, Cape Town. This full‑time technical role is for experienced IT professionals with network support and infrastructure experience. The role focuses on network monitoring, incident management, troubleshooting, vendor support and network change activities.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor network equipment, links and services
• Investigate network and voice incidents
• Perform first‑line network troubleshooting
• Log and update incident records
• Escalate complex or recurring issues
• Support users and internal IT teams
• Assist with network installations and maintenance
• Support standard network changes
• Validate network installations and upgrades
• Maintain network documentation and checklists

Required profile

• 3+ years of network support or IT infrastructure experience
• Practical LAN and WAN experience
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, routing and switching
• Network cabling and VoIP exposure
• Experience with ticketing or IT service management tools
• Good troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
• Strong communication and teamwork skills

Required skills

• Cisco CCNA or equivalent (advantageous)
• IT qualification in Networking, Electronics, Information Systems or related field (advantageous)
• Experience with network monitoring tools such as CA Spectrum, NFA, Performance Centre (advantageous)
• Experience with Velocloud Orchestrator or Remedy Helix (advantageous)
