Mid-Level Interior Designer – 6-12 Month Contract (Johannesburg)

About the role

A well‑established organisation is seeking a Mid‑Level Interior Designer to join their team on a 6 to 12‑month fixed‑term contract. This role offers the chance to work across a varied portfolio that includes corporate offices, hospitality venues, residential properties, events and conference spaces.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and support interior design projects such as refurbishments, upgrades, space refreshes and new layouts.
• Develop concepts, mood boards, space plans, furniture selections, finishes and styling proposals.
• Assist with selection and coordination of furniture, lighting, décor, finishes, fixtures and signage.
• Provide design support for events and conferences, including layouts, furniture, décor and staging.
• Liaise with suppliers, contractors and installers, obtain quotations and aid procurement.
• Prepare design presentations, specifications, schedules and maintain project documentation.

Required profile

• Relevant qualification in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Spatial Design or related field.
• 3–7 years of mid‑level interior design experience.
• Experience in commercial/workplace interiors, hospitality, residential or events is advantageous.
• Strong portfolio showcasing interior design, space planning, finishes and furniture selections.
• Proficiency with design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Good knowledge of materials, finishes, furniture, lighting and spatial planning.
