Maintenance Operator – Dewatering (Grade 1)

About the role

The Maintenance Operator (Grade 1) supports the Dewatering team by safely installing, repairing, and maintaining dewatering pumps and related equipment in the mining environment. You will work under supervision to ensure equipment reliability and compliance with safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and service dewatering pumps, including inspection, refuelling, and repair.
• Install, remove and repair HDPE pipes and associated fittings.
• Prepare work areas, dig trenches, and oversee pump placement.
• Monitor pump performance and report defects promptly to prevent downtime.
• Follow SHE (Safety, Health, Environment) procedures, use PPE, and keep the workspace clean.
• Participate in safety meetings, SLAMs, HPHs, and risk assessments.
• Assist the Dewatering Coordinator when required and follow company policies.

Required profile

• Ability to work safely in a mining environment and follow strict safety protocols.
• Basic mechanical aptitude for handling pumps, bolts, and pipework.
• Willingness to work on‑site and perform physical tasks such as digging and lifting.
• Good communication skills to report issues and coordinate with supervisors.
