Logistics and Transport Coordinator - Food & FMCG Industries

About the role

Our client, a leading processor and distributor of seafood products nationally, is seeking an experienced Logistics and Transport Coordinator with solid background in the Food and FMCG sectors. Reporting to the Logistics Manager, the role is based at the Paarden Eiland plant in Cape Town and focuses on coordinating national distribution and local fleet operations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain daily, weekly and monthly delivery plans for national customers and cold stores, negotiating rates and booking transport with external providers.
• Plan daily routes for company vehicles, allocate drivers, monitor vehicle utilisation and manage dispatch schedules.
• Liaise with Sales to ensure customer orders are fulfilled on time, prioritising urgent and export deliveries and handling exceptions.
• Ensure shipment documentation is complete, validate product and batch information, and support traceability requirements (GS1, WMS, ASN).
• Build and maintain relationships with transport carriers, source backup providers and challenge carrier invoices or service failures.

Required profile

• Matric or equivalent; additional certification in procurement, logistics or supply chain is advantageous.
• Minimum three years of logistics and transport supervision in the Food or FMCG sector.
• High proficiency with data analysis, spreadsheets and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
• Experience with SAP Business One or a similar ERP system is advantageous.
