Lecturer – Public Law (Full‑time, Port Elizabeth)

About the role

Nelson Mandela University is seeking a full‑time Lecturer in Public Law to join its Faculty of Law in Port Elizabeth. The successful candidate will deliver high‑quality lectures, develop engaging academic content, and assess student performance while contributing to the university’s research and community outreach missions.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate lectures in Public Law, including Labour, Employment, and Criminal Law.
• Develop and update course materials, assessments, and curricula in line with academic standards.
• Conduct original research, publish scholarly articles, and present findings at conferences.
• Participate in departmental meetings, curriculum development initiatives, and community engagement projects.
• Provide academic advising and mentorship to students.

Required profile

• Advanced degree (LLM or PhD) in Law with a focus on Public Law or a closely related specialization.
• Proven experience in lecturing at the university level, with strong communication and presentation abilities.
• Demonstrated research track record and experience publishing in reputable academic journals.
• Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion within an academic environment.
• Organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple teaching and research responsibilities.
