Labour Law Associate – Johannesburg

About the role

Our client, a boutique specialist employment law firm, is seeking a highly motivated Labour Law Associate to join their Johannesburg team. The role involves handling a variety of labour law matters and representing clients before the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA), offering valuable experience in a dynamic legal practice.

Key responsibilities

• Represent clients in labour law matters, including CCMA cases and Labour Court litigation.
• Provide expert legal advice on disciplinary enquiries, arbitrations, retrenchment processes and general employment law issues.
• Draft employment‑related agreements, policies and other legal documents, and manage case preparation for hearings.
• Collaborate closely with senior partners and clients to ensure high‑quality service delivery.

Required profile

• LLB and admission as an attorney with 2‑5 years post‑articles experience in employment/labour law.
• Strong knowledge of the LRA, BCEA, CCMA and Labour Court rules, and experience with bargaining councils.
• Proven drafting, advocacy and litigation skills, with the ability to work independently and manage files responsibly.
• Excellent client engagement, communication abilities and a strong work ethic.
