Junior Risk & Compliance Analyst (Legal) – Remote

About the role

A prestigious UK‑based law firm is seeking a Junior Risk & Compliance Analyst (Legal) to join its international Risk & Compliance team. The role is fully remote and ideal for a South African legal, risk or compliance professional looking to develop expertise in a global legal environment.

Key responsibilities

• Review open and closed client matters to ensure records are accurate, complete and up to date.
• Update the firm’s case management system with relevant risk and compliance information.
• Assist with drafting low‑risk client and matter risk assessments.
• Support client onboarding and due‑diligence processes by reviewing identification and supporting documentation.
• Conduct PEP, sanctions and adverse media screening, escalating potential concerns.
• Assist with conflict checks and review basic conflict check results.
• Liaise with fee earners, attorneys and paralegals to obtain outstanding compliance documentation.
• Maintain accurate compliance records and electronic filing systems.
• Assist with retrospective compliance reviews and spot checks on clients and matters.
• Support the Risk & Compliance team with regulatory, policy and procedural updates.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Law, Risk Management, Compliance or a related field.
• 1–2 years’ experience within a law‑firm environment (essential).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to liaise confidently with clients and colleagues.
• Strong organisational abilities in a high‑volume, deadline‑driven environment.
• Proactive, self‑motivated and solutions‑focused approach.
