Junior Operations Assistant – Truck Fleet Control

About the role

Are you switched‑on, energetic and someone who thrives when things are happening? We are looking for an individual to join a busy transport operation and play a hands‑on role in keeping a fleet of long‑distance trucks moving efficiently. This is not a desk‑bound 8‑to‑5 position – you will be at the heart of the operation, coordinating drivers, monitoring vehicles, communicating with clients and solving problems as they happen.

Key responsibilities

• Scheduling and coordinating long‑distance trucks
• Monitoring drivers and fleet movements
• Checking vehicle cameras and dealing with issues as they arise
• Coordinating loading and off‑loading, ensuring accuracy and compliance
• Keeping clients updated and proactively communicating any delays or challenges
• Thinking on your feet and finding practical solutions when plans change
• Assisting with the overall day‑to‑day control of the fleet
• Using Excel and computer systems to monitor and manage information

Required profile

• Matric qualification
• Previous experience in fleet control, transport operations or scheduling – specifically long‑distance trucks
• Good computer skills, particularly Excel
• Excellent communication and people skills (preferably fluent in Afrikaans)
• Sharp, practical and solutions‑driven mindset
• Ability to make sensible decisions under pressure
• Energetic, reliable and willing to get involved
• Strong work ethic and a can‑do attitude
• Stable employment history with contactable references
• Willingness to be available when transport does not run according to the clock
