Junior Mechanical Designer

About the role

Jendamark Automation is seeking a Junior Mechanical Designer to join its design department. You will work closely with senior engineers to create engineering solutions that meet customer specifications and company standards.

Key responsibilities

• Design and detail small special‑purpose applications and fixtures.
• Develop the most effective design solutions to meet required specifications.
• Specify components for procurement and prepare detailed drawings in collaboration with senior design engineers.
• Produce ECR designs and detailing for small tools and fixtures.
• Assist with assembly during the project phase.
• Create design release packages for manufacturing and ensure designs stay within budget.
• Follow ISO procedures and contribute to cost‑reduction initiatives.
• Perform stress, force and accuracy calculations.

Required profile

• Formal tertiary education (N. Dip or higher) in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics.
• Driver’s licence Code 8.
• Fluent in English and Afrikaans (both spoken and written); German is an advantage.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a design capacity.
• Competence in concept development, design calculations and FMEAs.
• Understanding of material specifications and manufacturing processes.
