Junior Application Support Engineer - Durban

About the role

The Junior Application Support Engineer will manage daily campaign operations, maintain database functionality, and ensure system performance while supporting both internal and external stakeholders. This role involves assisting the Database Administrator, handling data imports, and contributing to continuous process improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Apply 1+ years of SQL experience in a contact centre/BPO environment to support specialized business processes.
• Configure and maintain scheduling and automation tools, monitoring SFTP drives for successful file transfers.
• Manage daily data file imports, validate accuracy and resolve import errors with Business Analysts.
• Assist the Database Administrator with maintenance plans, ad‑hoc backups, restores, recovery testing, and user permission management.
• Analyse and optimise SQL queries and indexes to enhance database performance.
• Extract data from SQL databases, compile reports in Excel, and present findings clearly to clients.
• Test new functionality developed by Business Analysts to verify alignment with specifications before deployment.

Required profile

• Minimum of 1 year of SQL experience.
• IT Diploma or equivalent qualification.
• Technical skills in MS SQL Server, MS SQL Reporting Services (SSRS), and SQL scripting/query writing.
• Knowledge of systems integration and automation including APIs, schedulers, and SFTP processes.
• Understanding of SDLC and Agile‑Scrum/Kanban methodologies.
• Basic planning, prioritisation, and tracking abilities.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and critical‑thinking skills with high attention to detail.
• Customer‑service orientation, organisational skills and ability to perform under pressure.
