Hospital Case Manager

About the role

The Hospital Case Manager will coordinate the case management process within Mediclinic Bloemfontein, ensuring accurate and timely clinical information is shared among all stakeholders. The role focuses on minimizing financial risk for the organisation while supporting efficient patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Minimise financial risk by effectively managing patient stay.
• Ensure compliance with case management procedures, contracts and legal requirements.
• Finalise cases promptly to enable reimbursements from funders.
• Communicate consistently with funders through established case management channels.
• Adhere to Level 3 clinical coding standards.
• Lead and manage the Case Management team where applicable.

Required profile

• Essential clinical qualification.
• Registered Nurse / Professional Nurse or qualified Paramedic (desired).
• Minimum of 3 years in a clinical role.
• Experience in theatre and/or ICU, medical‑aid environment, private healthcare or as an ILS/ALS Paramedic (desired).

Required skills

• Proficiency with AS400 patient administration programmes.
• Computer literacy, especially Microsoft Office.
• Ability to apply and finalise clinical coding according to Level 3 guidelines.
