Groups and Events Manager

About the role

Mount Nelson is seeking a dynamic Groups and Events Manager to lead the planning and execution of a wide range of events, from large corporate functions to intimate cocktail parties. You will work closely with sales, coordinators and executive managers to maximise venue utilisation and deliver unforgettable guest experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Maximise selling space by liaising with Sales and G&E Coordinators, monitoring the diary and incoming functions.
• Manage day‑to‑day operations of the Groups and Events team and ensure smooth office workflow.
• Quote and contract all potential business through all available booking channels.
• Participate in long‑range planning meetings for upcoming events and provide strategic direction.
• Maintain accurate client files, contracts and confirmation letters, keeping relevant parties updated.
• Verify room and banqueting charges and ensure timely feedback on guest comments.
• Conduct in‑house site inspections that lead to profitable bookings.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree from a reputable hotel school (preferred).
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in groups, events, conferencing or sales within a luxury hospitality environment.
• Previous management experience is essential.
• Ability to forecast and produce accurate reports.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
