General/Country Manager

About the role

The company is an international freight forwarding specialist focused on airfreight. It is looking for a driven General/Country Manager to lead and expand its South African operations, overseeing three offices and a small team.

Key responsibilities

• Drive revenue growth and improve operational efficiency across all South African offices.
• Lead sales activities, including account management and direction of sales staff.
• Monitor financial performance, identify gaps, and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain high customer service standards and manage service level agreements.
• Identify and exploit growth opportunities within the market.
• Collaborate closely with regional offices and the global network.
• Oversee budgeting, reporting, and strategic planning.
• Make policy, planning, and strategy decisions.
• Develop, implement, and review operational policies and procedures.
• Manage staff performance, recruitment, termination, and leave.
• Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and IATA documentation requirements.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of experience in clearing and forwarding, with a focus on airfreight.
• At least 3 years of national management experience within the clearing and forwarding sector.
