Financial Crime Compliance Officer

About the role

The Financial Crime Compliance Officer will support Discovery’s Group Compliance team by implementing and maintaining robust anti‑money laundering (AML) and counter‑terrorist financing (CTF) measures. This role safeguards the organisation’s reputation and ensures adherence to all relevant regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Provide guidance to business units on new and ongoing financial crime compliance obligations arising from Acts, directives, and regulator orders.
• Conduct ongoing monitoring and assurance activities related to the Financial Intelligence Centre Act (FIC Act) and other regulatory requirements.
• Maintain Discovery’s delegation structure on the Financial Intelligence Centre’s GoAML platform, including institution registration.
• Report non‑compliance incidents and breaches to senior management.
• Support the maintenance of the Risk Management and Compliance programme, policies, and risk assessments.
• Assist with the design and delivery of training and awareness programmes.
• Prepare regular reports for management on compliance performance.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of AML and CTF regulations and the ability to apply them in a financial services environment.
• Experience in compliance monitoring, testing, and assurance activities.
• Ability to conduct risk assessments of customers, products, and legal entities.
• Proficiency in preparing regulatory reports and documentation.
• Knowledge of relevant legal and ethical standards, including data privacy laws.

Required skills

• Familiarity with the GoAML platform for regulatory reporting.
