Financial Controller / Statutory Accountant (CA(SA))

About the role

We are looking for a qualified Financial Controller / Statutory Accountant to join our team in Pretoria. The successful candidate will hold a CA(SA) qualification (or AGA(SA)) and have 2‑3 years of post‑articles experience. This role involves managing the full spectrum of accounting activities, ensuring compliance and supporting strategic financial decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Execute general accounting duties, including creditor payments, journal processing, month‑end close and VAT reconciliations.
• Maintain and monitor costs within budget, implementing appropriate financial controls.
• Prepare monthly balance‑sheet and income‑statement reconciliations for financial reporting.
• Analyse expense variances, provide commentary and trend analysis to senior management.
• Support audit processes, resolve queries and ensure timely completion of audit deliverables.
• Review and capture ad‑hoc invoices accurately in the payments system.
• Manage financial aspects of contracts, confirming compliance with contractual terms.
• Respond to internal financial queries within agreed service levels and escalate when necessary.

Required profile

• BCom or BCom Honours in Accounting with 2‑3 years post‑articles experience; eligible for SAICA registration or holder of an AGA(SA) designation.
• Preference for candidates with experience in the financial services industry.
